Isn't about time you got your Mom something nice for Mother's Day?
Mother's Day is around the corner (i.e. May 10th) and what better way to say, "Mom, you are the freakin BEST MOM EVER!" than with a special, one of kind gift? And better yet, one of a kind jewelry (who doesn't love jewelry?) Check out my Etsy page for some special items. Below are some recently added items.
Enjoy!

Friday Funday
As usual, I set out this morning with every intention for having myself an excellent Friday Funday adventure. But then around lunch, I decided my time would be better spent drawing for my up coming show.
So I thought, perhaps I would document my journey home from work, because I find that we often take for granted the scenery we pass daily.
Thus, around 6, I walked out of my building and took a few pictures.
Then I headed over in the direction of a discount camera store I've passed on several occasions. I've been meaning to get a new camera now for ages, and I thought I'd go in and have a look. Well,, my "just browsing" attitude didn't last for more than 20 minutes, and I am now the proud owner of a Panasonic Lumix FZ28 ha! I don't have a lot of time for shopping you see, and the guy(s) in there were really nice and very informative, so I just went for it. I feel is was only "kind of" an impulse buy, because I really had been wanting a new camera for forever and I had done some research online.. so, only kind of impulsive. You can't really get a sense for how big something is, or what it feels like by just looking at something online. So, I'm happy with my decision to just buy it.
I spent the remainder of the evening playing with my new toy =) Here are some of the photos I took. There are still a lot of things I need to learn, and the manual is quite thick. But I've got a bit of a handle on it so far, having only just skimmed through all of the possibilities my new camera posses.
I'll leave you with the photos I took. Now I really must get to drawing.

playing with ideas
Well, so much for my "Friday Funday" adventure today. I surprised myself by waking up before noon today (meaning 11:30), planning on going out and enjoying the perfect weather.. I was asleep again by 1, and proceeded to sleep all day. ha. This is what happens when I manage to get a day off. I'm so exhausted that I sleep for 12+ hours. Oh well. I am certain that the next time I have a day off, the weather will be equally as nice, as it rarely changes here.
Now I'm sort of awake, I'm playing around with some ideas for new illustrations. I didn't mention this before but I was contacted to be a part of the Enormous Tiny Art Show in LA the first weekend of June !! I'm extremely excited and a bit nervous. I want my work in the show to be amazing, but at the same time I don't want to over-think it too much. I have just over a month to make 4-6 pieces for the show, which seems like a lot of time, but I work so damn much that when I get any free time these days I'm so tired I can't bring myself to draw. However, now is not the time to complain because I have work to do! I'll just have to channel my mentality that I had senior year of MCAD and get on with it. (although, hopefully with less acne breakouts..yuck) Or you know, contact RedBull about making an iv drip. ha!
The main idea I'm tossing around comes from a dream my friend/coworker had.
"I had a dream last night or it was more this morning. We were at a costume party (I think) and I was dressed like a lion and you were a uh, well actually I don't remember but you were dressed up as well. Know of any animal themed costume parties, I should know about?"
I'm not entirely sure yet what I'm going to do with this, but I have a lot of mental images floating about. Here are a few sketches I came up with.
I'm not sure if this is the direction I want to take it yet, but who knows. Like I said, I don't want to over-think it too much. I'll keep you posted in where this project takes me.

Friday Funday
I'm going to have to post-pone my friday funday adventure until tomorrow, which, can't really be considered Friday funday, but whatev. It will be fun nonetheless. The reason for this is due to the fact that I really REALLy wanted a day off this week, so I did some schmoozing and traded my full Saturday shift for 1/2 of a shift tonight with a co-worker =) And I fully intend to abuse my day off, which may or may not include sleeping in until 3 in the afternoon. haha. It doesn't take long for the double job thing to kick you in the ass, and therefore I must get all of the sleep I've been missing out on in tomorrow.
Alright, I must be off.
Cheers,
K

White Walls + Shooting Gallery opening photos
I checked out the show(s) at at White Walls/Shooting Gallery on Saturday night. Here are some highlights
White Walls Gallery
Featuring work by Mike Shine and Caleb Neelson
Draw Show at the Shooting Gallery
DRAW is a must-see art exhibition featuring original drawings by 300 artists in the tattoo, literature, design, illustration, animation, skateboard, music, urban, psychedelic and new contemporary art worlds. The show is a tribute to the often-underrated but fundamental building block of visual and graphic art: the drawing.
DRAW is the largest contemporary drawing exhibition to emerge out of New York City. The exhibit debuted in October of 2006 at NYC’s Fuse Gallery to phenomenal response from audience and press alike. It had an equally impressive showing during the SXSW 2007 Music and Interactive-Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Most recently, the exhibit drew over 2000 people to its London debut at StolenSpace, East London’s Leading Contemporary Urban Art Gallery. DRAW is currently on a six-country world tour that includes future showings in Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Berlin.
DRAW is curated by Erik Foss and Curse Mackey with guest curators Justin Giarla, Jamie O’Shea, Tim Barber, Damien Weinkratz, Les Barany, Brendan Fowler, Mike Aho, Sto, Victoria Perez and D* Face.
